When attempting to discuss the value behind upgrading from the Business Essentials (BE) series of modules to the Advanced Management (AM) series of modules, it is often difficult to persuade clients to move up from one to the other. The Business Essentials option after all, offers an incredible array of useful modules such as General Ledger, Payables Management, Receivables Management, Management Reporter for financial statements, bank reconciliation and even the main parts of the distribution series such as sales order processing, inventory and purchase order processing. The project accounting in Dynamics GP is useable but certainly not the best module in Dynamics GP. A client would need to upgrade from BE to AM to get this module. This … [Read more...] about Dynamics GP Collections Management

Dynamics GP Event Exceeds Expectations
Earlier this month we held our annual Dynamics GP event for our clients at the new Microsoft Technology Center here in Minneapolis, MN-or Edina, MN to you locals. The event surpassed last year's attendance by 14 people. Last year we had 37 attend and this year we had 51. I’m especially pleased with the turnout since last year clients were eager to upgrade to Dynamics 2010 being that the software had been out for year. This year there were only a few service packs and a feature pack to discuss as new-yet more people attended. We were able to show some of the web renderings of popular screens such as Accounts Payable Transactions-which should be coming with Dynamics GP 2013.Debra Edlund-Lopez added some key thoughts that I will blog about … [Read more...] about Dynamics GP Event Exceeds Expectations
Dynamics GP Minneapolis, MN Client Event
Each year we hold both a Dynamics GP and Dynamics SL client event, for free, at Microsoft’s offices. Our offices are not large enough to accommodate 60 or so people per session for these events. Clients thoroughly enjoy these sessions as it is a chance for them to discuss configuration options with the many Boyer & Associates Dynamics GP experts. It is also a chance for Dynamics GP users to visit with other clients of ours that have better or different experiences they can learn from. The event is slightly less than a day, there is no airfare or hotel for most, and the ideas they leave with typically give them a sense that we are truly grateful for their business all year. What is unique about this year’s event?1.) This year we have … [Read more...] about Dynamics GP Minneapolis, MN Client Event
Dynamics GP-Using Two Monitors
Labor is what we spend most of our money on when it comes to a business or non-profit organization. If you are selling diamonds or have a large distribution center-you could be an exception. Now, you can buy an additional 22 inch refurbished flat screen monitor for less than $200. So if you are not already using a second monitor, it may be because you don’t understand how much this can help you be more productive or you travel a lot and don’t spend much time in the office. If an additional monitor can make a person multi-task slightly less or be able to do two things at once more effectively, even a 5% improvement in a person’s productivity makes this investment worthwhile. For us, even the consultants that are rarely in the office have … [Read more...] about Dynamics GP-Using Two Monitors

Dynamics GP 2010 R2 Available, Stable and Rich in Features
Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 was a nice improvement over Dynamics GP 10. The web services offered expanded tremendously and the role tailed menus got even easier to use. Additional Smartlist built in queries were released and the software got a bit faster as well.We typically only have clients that have very few customizations do every upgrade that comes out so unless there is a specific need for a feature, we would not typically advise a client to upgrade from GP 2010 to GP 2010 R2. However, for the many clients that were still on Dynamics GP Version 10, the upgrade exodus to version 2010 has been tremendous, not only did we add more Dynamics clients in one month (December of 2011) than any time in our 18 year history here at Boyer, we … [Read more...] about Dynamics GP 2010 R2 Available, Stable and Rich in Features
Dynamics GP Year End Thoughts
Today is January 31st. As we look back at how we helped our Dynamics GP clients reconcile to the general ledger, and get W-2’s/1099’s printed and electronically sent, we should reflect on what other resources we can use to help improve this process next year. For Boyer clients, I would continue to attend our Dynamics GP Year End event each year. We get very good feedback on this event each year and people consistently provide positive feedback about the use of their time. For those of you that are not in the Twin Cities area of Minneapolis and St. Paul, here are some other great resources. The Dynamics GP Blog Community created some wonderful posts here: Schedule of Year-End Closing Blog Posts for Dynamics GP. Here you will find a … [Read more...] about Dynamics GP Year End Thoughts
Integrating Dynamics CRM and Dynamics ERP products
An Interview with PowerObjects Pre-Sales Consultant Jack HowellJack Howell worked here at Boyer & Associates in a marketing capacity for a little more than two years. Jack successfully implemented CRM Version 4 for us while doing a host of other useful marketing projects at Boyer & Associates. Now, like most of the PowerObjects staff, Jack lives and breathes CRM.Jack Boyer: Jack, you were a CRM consultant initially when you first started at PowerObjects. I know that was challenging for you at first because you had less experience than most of the consultants at PowerObjects. How much did that experience help you become a better Pre-Sales Consultant?Jack Howell: It helped me tremendously. One of the keys to being able to give … [Read more...] about Integrating Dynamics CRM and Dynamics ERP products
