Most of you already have a balance sheet that you are using for your monthly reports. The typical process is a combination of running a report in Management Reporter and then exporting to excel to make formatting adjustments or to correct the dollar amounts so they balance. Below are some tips to avoid having to export to excel to achieve a completed report straight from Management Reporter.1. Separating Your Report onto Two Pages: Balance sheet reports are a good example where you would want to separate the Assets section from the Liabilities and Equity section. To do this, enter the “PAGE” function in the Format Code section of the row definition just above where you would want to start the new page of the report. 2. … [Read more...] about Management Reporter Balance Sheet Tips

Currency Translation in Management Reporter 2012 CU8
Currency Translation was added in Management Reporter in the CU8 update. This allows you to switch between currencies on the fly when printing the report to the web viewer by clicking on the Currencies button and selecting which currency you wish the report to display in:Before this will work, however, you need to have all currencies setup in the Multicurrency Setup in GP, as shown here:First, mark the Currency ID check box next to the currency you wish to add to the Exchange table. Then, assign the Current, Historical, Average, and Budget Exchange Table IDs. (For more information on setting up Multicurrency, I would recommend taking a look at the documentation for it in the GP code folder.)Once the currencies are setup, the … [Read more...] about Currency Translation in Management Reporter 2012 CU8
Document Attachments in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013
A long awaited feature for Microsoft Dynamics GP has finally been added into the core product. That feature is Document Attachment Management and is available in the core GP 2013 product. When GP 2013 is installed, this feature is disabled by default but can be easily enabled with a straight forward setup window provided in Tools → Setup → Company → Document Attachment Setup. Documents are considered specific to a company, so if you have multiple companies the feature may be enabled in one company and not another, depending on your business needs. Document attachments can be used to associate electronic documents with various GP components, such as, but not limited to, Items, Sales Transactions, and Vendors. Any file that is available … [Read more...] about Document Attachments in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013
Dynamics GP 2013 SmartList Export Error
We have seen a new issue with SmartList export in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 – it is truncating numbers to the thousands place. For example, on the two incidents we saw, they had a number in SmartList like 4,950.00. When exported to Excel, it exported as 4. Changing the format on the column does nothing to fix the problem. This error seems to be related to a change Microsoft did with the formatting of SmartList data for Excel. With the introduction of the Web Client in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013, the development team needed the ability improve the performance of SmartList exports over the browser. To gain a dramatic improvement in performance, during the export to Excel, the number format in a SmartList amount column is ignored and the … [Read more...] about Dynamics GP 2013 SmartList Export Error

Using SmartList to Display the Name of the User Who Posted a Transaction in Dynamics GP
From time to time we have had clients contact us wanting to know if there is an easy way to see who posted a transaction to the GL in Microsoft Dynamics GP. The Journal Entry Inquiry window will provide you with additional information associated with the journal entry, such as the Audit Trail Code and Source Document; however, it does not tell you who posted the transaction.Dynamics GP does store the user who posted the transaction in the database. So, an SQL script could be used to query the GL20000 (Open Year Posted Transactions) or GL30000 (Historical Year Transactions) tables with USWHPSTD being the User Who Posted field. However, most users do not have access to SQL to run ad hoc scripts. The easiest solution for all users is … [Read more...] about Using SmartList to Display the Name of the User Who Posted a Transaction in Dynamics GP
Easy Way to Determine Your Current Dynamics GP Version
Do you often wonder what Dynamics GP version number you are on? We often get questions about the version numbers and it’s easy to get confused by the number sequence. For many years, the version numbers for the Dynamics GP software were consecutive numbers such as 7, 8, 9, and 10. Updates to a version came out as a point release like, 8.5 or 9.5. Starting with release “11”, Microsoft started naming the Dynamics GP releases by the year released, instead of by the next sequential release number. So GP “11” became Dynamics GP 2010 and now GP “12” is Dynamics GP 2013.It was confusing because the change occurred in the year 2010. So the version numbers went from GP 10 to GP 2010 for releases 10 and 11, respectively. Not to confuse the … [Read more...] about Easy Way to Determine Your Current Dynamics GP Version
